'74 shroud in a '73??

My '73 CJ5 with the 304 does not have a fan shroud, but I've noticed in the catalogs that one is listed for the V8 application, but not until '74. Why is this, and will that shroud fit on my '73? Thanks!

There are very few differences in CJs from '72 through '75. All the differences I can think of are cosmetic, or smog related*. If it fits a '74, it should work on a '73. There were lots of changes in '76, so it could be a typo, meant to read '76.

*I can think of a couple other changes now; clutch linkage in '73, float spring in '74, voltmeter in '74? - not sure about the voltmeter.

No voltmeter in a 74, I don't think. Other than the spedo cluster, it came stock with an oil and ammeter -- at least the Renegade did.

I thought my '75 had a voltmeter - maybe it changed in '75.

my factory parts manual shows 72,73, and 74 CJ V8s as the same Jeep part number
    (999305)
plus some later years as well, also Commando as well

I bought a fan shroud off 4WD.com for my 73 and its works perfect.

my '73 304 came with one. so it should be a pretty standard item.
