Gas tank selector switch (?), any signs of extra tank?

I'd bet money that's EXACTLY what that is . Selects from one tank to another.

    ahh that is very possible...

as far as gas tanks know there was one under the seat but opening has been covered and pop riveted over. as far as a second who knows... Currently it has a 9.3 gallon homemade aluminum job sitting on 1X6 blocks in the back.... yeah I know the PO didn't do me any favors...

I have seen a secondary tank up in the rear finder well of an old 5 once. Could have been for that.

interesting that the PO had it on the dash? most units I have seen are under the seat or along the floor. I would think it would lose prime often.

    Sledgehammer Sure, I'll try it

So....take out all the copper lines and sell for scrap $??? I guess if they are in good shape it would be ok.

yeah there's only 9 or 10 and all about 6" long or less... not sure it would cover gas money to get to the scrap yard..

Depending on the Jeeps past, I suppose it COULD have been a keg selector.......

It's is a vacuum selector switch, they were installed to be used when a second vacuum windshild wiper motor was installed instead of the passager manual one, the drive could select which wiper to run. with out haveing to reach over and turn one on and other off, might say it was the first wiper delay system.

hmm interesting.. that it should have a selector but has a manual passenger wiper... But who knows what is original and what has been "fixed" jury rigged etc over the last 48 years
