power steering swap

I think this weekend me and a buddy are going to go to the u pull it yard this weekend and tackle switching out my rack n pinion for a power steering setup similiar to his. any lessons learned out there from you guys i should know about?? thanks

 

You have rack & pinion in your Jeep , we need to see pictures of this. Just in case your terminiology is wrong, Ross is not rack & pinion or even remotely close.

 

nope its not a ross, it looks to me like the PO installed a rack n pinion from an astro van or maybe a pinto not exactly sure. the only thing i dont like about the way he did the job is that when he welded the tab off the rodd going across he welded it right to the front diff cover, with a very thin piece of metal. how i havnt snapped the thing off yet ill never know. i have to disconnect all the steering components just to get the front diff cover off

 

bring plenty of sockets and a cheater bar. thats what i learned the first time i tried to get a PSbox off a FSJ
