    sammy Coca-Cola?

Discuss. It'll be on my M100 which will have rotational movement, and pivot movement regardless, but not vertical movement, as it would with the pintle. I'm afraid of going up something with the trailer and hear POP.
No receiver, only a 2" ball on the Jeep. I'm hoping to buy a hacked lunette and use it.
    Thanks

Sammy - there is a reason Pintle hitches were used...

If you do too much off road with the trailer, you will find out why and it will cost alot more to fix than doing it right the first time...

There's no way of using the pintle hitch on it my Jeep. PTO winch is in the way and no way of mounting a receiver.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

I've been over some pretty rough trails towing the trailer behind the Jeep.
I was concerned at first, but I've had no problems. The trailer just follows along.
I would not do a pintle hook on mine; I can hear the noise they make from the guys towing their trailers behind me......too much noise/racket on or off street/trails for me.
I did replace my coupler with a new 2" type, got rid of the original screw type coupler that uses the 1-7/8" ball.

I have to say that I have seen too many 2" setups snap where we go to be comfortable with one. Most snap the hitch point on the trailer or it distroys the latch mechanism coupling to the ball.

Jim - are you useing a Bulldog or what type of hitch on the trailer?

    sammy Coca-Cola?

Hehe, that's what I was basing my original ideas off of. I was going to consider a U joint for the center, one of the bigger semi ones. No, not that big, think smaller.
But, his is based off of a hitch as well. See the ball will go up or down a small bit, but, if you do the ball with a joint in it to allow it to go up the tongue would always look like this \ / if you can invision that.

You're not encountering problems when going up or down hills such as something looking like \____/ ?

I popped mine on the tow bar like that. Oops.
I'm looking into the bull dog for my application

I have seen simular setups to this (home brew with U Joints - may have been a CV) and it worked well too. That is even something I would consider (I have a receiver front and back on mine now).

I <had> a receiver front and rear. The front is legit for moving the big trailer around, but when I was towing it with the Jeep I bent my receiver mount off the drawbar about 25*. That marks the end. I'm not going to weld one on the drawbar either on the top, as the drum spools there.
