Nice rig. I can't say I've seen very many high hoods on tons.

Finally got the top down lately and fabbed up some side markers that didn't require body drilling.

I agree! But you can't drive it on public roads here in Cali like that :/.

I was told by a police officer many years ago that I was fine as long as I wore DOT approved safety glasses (like for motos). this is in WA state though.
On the 2A the windshield was hardly up, on the TJ i think 3-4 times has it been down, and I havnt even removed the top on the 5 yet.

Drove for years in the summer time with the windshield down in one municipality, never a problem with the local police.
Drove in another municipality and got pulled over right away! Even with wearing approved safety rated glasses.

I got a ticket in CA in the 80's for "windshield not in place". He also tried unsuccessfully to write me for no seat belt for the rear passengers. I argued both, seat belts were not required for rear passengers in 1967, but I got nowhere with my argument that the windshield was present, just in the ventilating position. Guilty, slam, 60 bucks.

No doors, windshield down. It’s not a good idea to challenge them, even though it’s an open body cj5 which never came with doors. And the windshield down is such a personal call. Some allow it, others don’t.

I personally never enjoyed windshield down on the street, found it terrifying (off road is great).
Venting w/s open a little, sure. I've never even put full doors on the '68,
I put on the half doors if its gonna be cold or there's gonna be a lot of freeway driving.

We have the windshield down all summer on the '69 when using it around the property. But any time you're doing over 30 mph it stops being fun really fast and the windshield goes up.
