How to mount My shocks?

I currently am re-doiny my entire jeep 4 off road use only (check my topic "all my new mods") and an wondering how I should mount my shocks now? Should the be straight up and down, angled a certain way, or what. Please send me as much info as you can. Thanks a lot guys.

 

They become less effective the more angled they are.

 

So are you saying that they should be straight up and down. What shocks should I use? AS far as brand and model? Is it better to have them mounted farther out on the axle, or more tword the center? I can make them go anywere just need an idea of what would work best. Thanks.

 

I am doing the same thing with mine. I am going SOA with wrangler springs so I had to redo all of my shock mounts. I have not done any permanent mounting yet. I am leaving the upper rear mount the same and just welding gussets to the axle tube for the lower shock mount. I had to do this because now I have more travel and needed a longer shock. The rears on mine will be angled, just like from the factory, and the fronts will be straight up and down. I am using shock towers from a full size Jeep pick up in the front. I am using Rancho 9000's. The rear ones are 9118 and the fronts I can't remember. (I think it's 9115) I'll check later. I think there might be some pics on my webshots page, of some mock ups. I basically just made an extra plate that mounts on top of the u-bolt nuts, with a stub shaft welded to the plate for the mount. Did the same thing for my sway bar mounts.
