Roll Bars

    When did roll bars become standard? My '75 has one, but I must admit that I like the no roll-bar look.

    i not that keen on roll bars, i know all the benefits of them after 20 years in Motorsport, but my CJ won't be put in the position to need one.

    No rollbar offered prior to 1974, still optional in '75, not sure when it became standard ... probably by 1980.

    A factory roll bar will be painted the body color. Aftermarket bars were chassis black.

    What about the black windshield frames? What year did they go to body color?

    1975 IIRC. Maybe '74, but I think '75. Search - we've covered this before.

    I think that most people who end up in a roll over didn't intend on rolling over either... They do look nice with the windshield down and no roll bar, but I'm not fond of being bent in half by blacktop either.

    '74 at least Farfle's is body color as I recall.
