Do i need this Jeep?

    Well I was out cruising around on my bike yesterday when i passed a cj3b for sale on the side of the road. Somebody replaced the body panels (looks like they just placed them over the old ones) but, it looks pretty good,it has a Dauntless swapped in but it's missing the carb. The frame has also been cleaned up and painted except for the rear crossmember which i happen to have in the garage. I need to see if it was sand blasted. My real problem with it is the spring over conversionthat was done to it. I'm not real crazy about it and the potential problems i could have with it. The rear driveshaft is in it but it's way to short and the front shaft is missing. Can anyone let me know if they have done this and if they like it? I really don't need this thing as i have a million other projects to do. Sound familiar? My wife passed away this past March after her battle cancer so, maybe i'll treat myself?

    I think you should treat yourself to the 3B! You can never have enough projects! I would think it wouldn't be a bad project to convert it back to spring under. I must admit that I used Yahoo maps to see how far away you were(3 hrs) just in case the 3B wanted to come live in Vermont,LOL.

    There is no such thing as too many projects! Thats y i am bringing home another on wednesday R) I want to make sure i have enough Jeeps to keep me busy till the day i die :twisted:

    x2 on the converting back to spring under!

    Real sorry about your wife. My advice is to do whatever makes you happy. If you think it will be fun, then go for it!

    My condolences.

    Realize that asking whether you should buy a Jeep on this forum is like a crack addict asking his crack addict buddies if he should buy more crack (not my line - but I don't know who used it first).

    MO though, sure buy it, if you want it and the work appeals to you.

    Sorry to hear about your wife. I can only imagine.

    Sounds like you want to add to the collection but if this one does not feel right to you maybe you should pass (for now at least) and broaden your search.

    (Disclaimer: This opinion comes from someone who invariably will usually end up selecting the very first option after first looking at everything else on the shelf R))

    Jeeps are a great form of therapy - I am doing a Commando build with a CJ6 to follow with a buddy in the same situation as you. I made a promise to his wife before she died to keep him busy so he wouldn't dwell on things.

    Pick your projects - name one for the wife (that's what Sheldon has done) build something she and you would have enjoyed. I believe it's a way of keeping them close to your heart and sharing while you say goodbye.

    I am really sorry to hear about your wife...

    If the jeep feels right to you then get it if not then there will be another one.

    As others have said here, if it make you happy then fine.

    As you may have noticed this site is NOT exactly a 12 step program for recovering jeepers. ;)

    I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your wife. I lost my wife to cancer 5 years ago after 15 years of marriage. I'll always miss her but it does get better with time.

    Treat yourself to the 3B, your missing one in your collection!
