Greenies getting 1 tons

We ran into that trying to get the adjustment right on the piston rod (or whatever it's called). If it got a good pedal, the brakes were locked up, but then when it got to the point where it would spin freely, the pedal starts feelin like crap again. For mine I think I'm just gonna try out what's on there stock to start with and see how it feels, and if I can't get it right just go with Wilwood or something. Just was wonderin what kinda set up you had and how well it worked.

oops.. been really busy, breaks still need to be bled a couple more times, but for the time being the stock brakes are good...

    question for ya CJ5 BUGGY:

when you put the 1 tons on there, did you have an issue with the front pumpking being out wider than the original axle? i was/am considering d60's in the future for my '73, but when i looked into it more (which still is not much and nearly enough), the outside of the pumpkin will be wider than my lil d30. this means i would need to move my leaf springs and hangers to the outside of the frame rather than under it, which raises more structural/durability issues i think. maybe your frame on your cj is wider than mine, being the post '75 style, so this is not an issue at all? i appreciate your input-and anybody else as well.

the build is looking sweet. i'd like to come by and see it on my way home from work, but your just a little out of my usual path home...

    greenie is looking GREAT!

outboarding springs is done all the time for full width axles. its easy to do, and doesn't really affect frame strength negatively, especially if you box the frame.

hey Wicked.... just like mountainjeep said it doesn't hurt anything to outboard the springs to fit the big old Dana 60... i'm not sure what the frame with differences are.

i guess you could swing by if i was still stationed at MCRD San Diego and lived in Oceanside, but hey that was a few beers ago...

ok, this is kind of what i had an idea of doing. basically mounting a bracket of a sort built on the outside of the frame rail, with good reinforcement right? then mount the spring hanger, or shackle mount off that... i kinda had an idea, just never heard anything positive or negative regarding it. does anybody have a couple of pics of this that they couldpost on here for me to get an idea of a 'good example' of how to build and brace the mount?

by the way, i will soon be in the process of boxing a newly aquired frame, which should be plenty strong for whatever i end up throwing at it.

    thanks for the info:beer:

since we had time for a break, the wife wanted us to help get ready for a new air compressor... the one we have won't even tighten or loosen the bolts on the diff cover. which means this has been all manual labor build...
the wife cut herself building the form...
