BUICK 350 flywheel

OK, am I missing something, or are Buick 350 flywheels RARE ? I've done some reading and it appears that the 225 flywheel can be re-balanced to work with the 350. (I'd rather not go this route)

Is there a good source for Buick 350 flywheels that I am missing ? (Obviously the cheaper the better, but without compromising safety/durability)

If I could find a Buick 350 flywheel, I'm really considering the swap. ANY help would be appreciated !

 

Lets put it this way, how many Buicks have you ever seen with a manual transmission?
Yea there pretty rare but they can be found, get a hold of Nickmil he can probably help you.

 

The only place I found new ones was TA Preformance in Phoenix.

COOL, I'm trading e-mails with a guy on Buickv8.com. Maybe one will present itself there. Now I have to really think about this....It was kind of just a thought before, now its looking more possible.

It sure would be nice to throw a V8 in there. It LOOKS like they only weigh about 80lbs more that the V6 and it has quite a bit more power.... hmmmmmmm.

Watch the year on the 350. I have a high compression version (pre-1971) and I have to run mixed race gas at sea level, but its great above 4000 ft where I use it mostly. Not sure they even weigh 80 lbs more. My research says 35 lbs more.

 

Good to know- I'm just looking for a basically stock version. Should be about 100 extra horses and the same torque over the 225, huh?

The 300 and 340 will bolt in too, but aren't as common.

 

You sure you want to put an extra 100 hp on an locked Dana 25 - especially with the super-low gears of a SM420 and 5.38's? OK, I admit I did it, but I have also already changed one front axle, and I am pretty light on the skinny pedal, and it was only a lim-slip.

 

I know of at least 4 rigs with over 500hp running the sand with D25s and powerlocks
2 are using T350 autos in flatfenders
no problems in over 10 years
granted, more "shock" to the drivetrain when crawling along in the rocks

 

Well, I'm going to look at a 1969 Wagoneer with the 350 and a broken 3 speed in it this weekend. If it looks good, I'll probably pull the 350 w/flywheel and then go from there. Let's see what kind of deal I can get on it....

 

You also might want to get the bellhousing.
