Bought a 10.000lbs winch recently. A bit heavy, so time for some ironwork.

This is how it looked before.....

Removed the old bend bumper, thinking how to attach anything on this....

Used 100x50 mm square tube, cut out a piece on the front and rear off it, putting the 40x10 mm flat iron straight through, add a extra piece for thickness on the front side.

Used a piece off heavy truck chassis (Paccar) to make the winchplate, filled the difference in height off the chassis with a 40x15 mm flat iron. Reinforced it with a 60x35x4 mm angle iron on the inside of the chassis, to add some strenght and connect the winchplate to the bumper/towhooks. Used all the existing holes in the chassis....

Disassambled the whole thing, painted an reassambled......

Ready to do some serious offroading this weekend in Belgium.

    Thank you all :)

I'll post some when we're back....

Indeed, did it on purpose, I like the "slim" design, also didn't want the fairlead stickin' out that much.......

very nice looking setup. I think I would have went for just a tad more heft on the bumper mount bolts and the shackles? But I guess if you rip two of them apart you will probably rip the frame apart too.... Again, very nice looking.

Nice work on the bumper, I just installed a winch and did it in a similar manner. I like the idea of the frame and shackle mount being one in the same. Thanks for sharing.
