the story of my 6

Some of this will be repetitive for some of you, here's the story. I purchased my cj6 from a local car lot about 18 months ago. It had to be brought home on a trailer. As soon as I got it home, I took a few pic's and statrted taking it apart. I had hopes of having it rebuilt and driving it in just a few months. Boy was I wrong. As many of you know Mike Ruffin (Mcruff) has been a tremendous help to me. If it wasn't for his help I would be up the creek without a paddle and no Jeep. Here are some of the pic's from start to where we are today.

Here is where I am today. It is getting closer. I almost have a complete rolling chasis.

 

Very cool!!! I need to get rolling on mine again. The frame's done, ready for reassembly, but nothing else is ready to put back on.

Hey everyone, here are some of the upgrades and rebulids that I or (Mcruff) has done. Frame sandblasted and sprayed with etching primer then painted with high gloss black paint. Black Diamond 3'' lift with new shocks, 17x8 Eagle Alloys polished aluminum wheels and 34x10.5x17 SS LTB's. Motor completely rebuilt and balanced. New water pump, oil pump, distributor, cap rotary button, low end torque cam. flywheel balanced. I got a SM 420 trans, Novak adapter, and Mcruff rebuilt my Dana 18 T case. I got the twin stick from Nick Miller. The axles can from Coby. They are the 27 and 44 with 4:27 gears. Full floater kit in the rear axle. Disk brakes on all 4 corners. Lockright in the rear axle. I got my Saginaw steering box mount from Mcruff, as well as a set of 5 degree caster shims. I removed the under seat gas tank and put a rear tank in. As far as the body, I had the body blasted and painted with a epoxy primer. I have new, a front floor pan, tool box, tailgate, two new fenders, and a new rear crossmember. I almost have my chasis finished and it will be time to start on body work. I know I have left a few details out, but I am starting to see a jeep come togeather in my shop. My goal is to have it completely finished before Aug. ( thats when our first baby is due).

I want to say Thanks to everyone for selling me parts, and helping me answer questions. I hope this jeep will turn out great and it will be something my family and I will enjoy for a long time.

I noticed you're running a 231 intake. I'm going to be swapping my 225 intake for a 231, and was wondering what you used as a gasket on the EGR port to seal it up.

Flat47, I am sad to say, I don't have the original 225 that came in my Jeep. The motor that was in it is the Buick 231 V6. I think it is out of a 1984 Buick. It came with the computer controlled carburator. I did away with that and went to a Rochester 2G carburator. My advise to you is to plan ahead with your carb, if you go to the 231 intake. There is a larger bolt pattern on the intake than is on the 2G. Mcruff is making me an adapter because I could not find a universal adapter to fit.

 

I'm planning on running a Holley 2210 carb. It'll bolt right up, I just hope it all fits under the hood of my CJ2A.

Just an update, I ordered some more parts from Classic Enterprises today, I will take some pic's when the big brown truck comes. I am also planning on taking alot of pics when I start my body work. Maybe I can help someone in the future with installing some new body parts.

Mcruff and I ran my fuel lines today.

 

Got my radiator back from getting recored, now I have to paint it. I also got my last body panels from Classic Enterprises yesterday. Progress, slowly but surely.
