So do I have to do any drivetrain mods to replace my T-86aa with a T-14, or is the length not a big deal?

The length is not a big concern to my knowledge but you will need to change the bull gear out as the t14 is a 10 spline output compared to the 6 spline output of the t86.

I have the 10 spline output from a parts jeep. do I have to relocate the crossmember as well?

Not that i know of, the transmissions are within 1/2" of the same length.

The T14 is right at 5/8" longer....

that might be a minor problem.

I had to drill a new hole for the transmission mount (I used an aftermarket unit), but other than that, no biggie with the crossmemeber.

Also, I hope you don't have to worry about this, but for some reason, my rear driveshaft was too long with the T14, so I had to spend a few bucks to get it shortened a bit. Got them to balance it and put in new u-joints while they were at it. Others did not have this problem, so maybe you won't have to do this.

I got my tranny from Herm and he also set me up with a bull gear for the T14.
