Saw this on the back of a 4x4 the other day. IT was a jerry can that had been split at the horizontal seam a couple inches down from the top. It was piano hinged in the back with some nice locking latches on the front side. It had been turned into a gear storage or tool box. It would be great to add some trays inside to keep stuff sorted out. I just found 2 rusted out cans at work so I am going to make a few.Where is a good place to buy the holders for these cans?
    What do ya think?

You can buy the holder from most any off road supply shop.

With a little padding inside they make good speaker sub woffer enclosers. Put one inside on top of each rear fender! Use the filler cap hole for the port tube.

Sounds awesome. I have one in the garage collecting dust. I'm thinking a jig saw with a metal blade.

I found out mine was leaking the bad way. I noticed it was a little rusty inside and didn't want to use it for gasoline. I was changing the oil the other day and thought it would be a good safe place to store used oil until I go to the dump. So, I dumped about 10 quarts of dirty old oil in there and set it in my garage. My brand new garage with a brand new clean concrete floor. Next day I go out there to grab my weed eater andthe floor is covered in about 8 of the ten quarts of oil.

I have one old Water "Jerry" can that leaks and I will save that one. The other one is going to the dump. If I was going to make a storage box on my Jeep I would want something that doesn't have rust holes through it.

I was watching "overhaulin" last night and they brought a '68 Bronco back from the grave. Actually didn't look too bad. However, they made a speaker "box" using a Jerry can and installing a speaker in it. I am not sure if it was metal or plastic

Now that is sweet. I may change my mind on the storage can and do that instead. I picked up some hasps, and hinges today. Very cool. That should make a good project in a couple months when I get the rest of the list done.
