    Hey guys,
I need to find a radiator, the radiator that was in my 71 Commando was something from another vehicle. It was held in place by metal straps and a piece of angle iron. Does anyone know of a source for a new or remanufactured radiator??? I checked Napa, AutoZone and Kragen. Is there another one made that will bolt in???
    Thanks

Just found out its actually a 70 and not a 71 thanks to the VIN# thread and the little yellow sticker on the door post.

I do not know of a company making new radiators specifically for the Commando but I used a 87 Jeep Wrangler radiator on my 67 and it fit fine. I did have to drill 4 holes in the mounting flange to match the ones in the cose support but I did not have to add any additional brackets or strapping. The radiator I have is for the 2.5 liter but I think a 4.0 liter radiator will fit as well. I used the Wrangler 2.5 liter top hose but had to make one to fit for the bottom. I think I used a 477 from AutoZone for the bottom. I cut the hose and inserted a plastic splice which allowed me to rotate the molded hose enough to fit around the oil filter. I can take some pics if you wish. I bought the radiator on ebay for 59.00.

    Good luck.

Thanks:) Carlos, I will check it out. I am a little concerned about using the one for the 4cyl. 2.5L as I will be running a rebuilt 225. Which engine are you using and have you ever had trouble with it getting hot????
    Thanks

    Fiero Radiator?

Don't know if this would work with a Jeepster grille or not.

I have the 225 V6 and have not had a problem with it overheating. I have not drivien it in an extended trip yet either so time will tell. So far so good.

 Thanks guys. Grumpy I talked to the guys at ExtremeRadiators and they are very nice and willing to help. They wanted me to send them mine and they would rebuild it and take a pattern off mine and build a new radiator but they wanted about $275 for the job. When I told him my radiator was not the correct one that ended the conversation but he did say if I could find one they would be willing to do the job.Yesterday a friend of mine hooked me up with a guy that has 3 Commandos at his house and he sold me the right one for $45 and now all I need to do is take it to the Rad. shop and have a new core put in it for around $115 and I will be in business. The guy I got it from has had his reworked and add a 3rd row to it so it cools even better but it sure looks close to the fan to me, any thoughts on this guys????
