DJ Fenders?

    And now the questions begin...

Can someone tell me if fiberglass fenders from a 1976 Postal Jeep will fit on a Commando? I've got a chance to pick a set up for a good price.

Or, if I got these and was able to trade for a set of steel CJ fenders, would they be able to be modified to fit (steel being easier to cut and shape than fiberglass)?

I know of a couple of guys that have put complete postal front clips on, not sure what years they were. Aaron, 389 Stroker on the JCCA put one on his. The postal grille may be different which is why they did the fenders, grille and hood. The lower rear part of the fender where it meets the body is different whether its a DJ or CJ. Jeepsters have a little dog leg. Not a big deal if you're just building it for offroad. Don't know of any other problems.
Just thought of something else, not a biggy though. Only two of the three bolt holes line up where the fender meets the body so you'd have to drill a new one.

    Depends, is it a c101 or c104?

:edit: Whoops, just looked at the drivetrain, C101 I see. :/edit:

:edit #2: I just looked at your avatar. :/edit #2:

The DJs never used a long front clip. They should fit. The grille is indeed different, it is "bubbled" to fit the I6 with the short front clip. Differences in the rear at the rocker panel as noted by PackRat.

I recently hoped to score a postal front clip for use on my 5. The ones I looked at had turn signals mounted on top of the fenders, so you might have some holes to fill if your hood doesn't hide them.

Thanks all, I will see them tomorrow when I go and pick up my rear section of CJ6 frame. He did say they had the holes in them from the DJ signal lights. Now I'm getting excited that this is actually a doable project! R)

I was just over there reading that. I got my mig from Crap O' Tire. Haven't used it with gas yet, wanted to use up the 30 feet of complimentry flux core  , but if I run into the same problems I'll look into that.
Enos, looking at those fenders I see no reason the Jeepster grille won't mount up to those. Never had a close look at DJ fenders but they appear to be the same as Jeepster in that area.
