I drained my transfercase to change fluids then realized I can't find a fill hole. Looking at the Service Manual, everything shows there should be a fill plug where I have the yellow arrow pointing (sorry for the blurry pic)

Since there is no fill plug here, how do I fill the transfercase??? Obviously, there was never one there from the factory.

WOW! That is VERY strange indeed. All the ones I've seen have a plug there.

Sorry, I have no recommendations on how to get fluid in unless you pull the floor pan inside the Jeep, pull the breather from the top of the t-case and put it in there.

If you do that, be sure to measure how much you're putting in so you don't overfill. Normally you just go until it runs out of the fill hole, but that won't work for you!

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

is it on the rear of the case, near the intermediate shaft ?
    gotta be one somewhere

Just what I was thinking. If someone re-cased it with a 20 case it could be on the back. Nickmil.

You can see the fill plug just behind the brake drum on my 70 CJ5 t/c.

It it does not have one you could take the top off the tranny, or fill through the tranny fill plug although it may take a little while to level off.

You only need 3 pints of oil in it !!!!!!!!!!

Just take off the PTO cover. Its easier to get oil in there anyway, and when it runs out the bottom PTO cover bolt hole your good. The bottom bolt hole and the fill plug are basically level anyway.

I didn't see one in back, but it is kind of hiding so I'll have to look in the morning. I didn't think of the PTO cover either.

    Thanks for everyone's input!!!
