    Good Morning

Would anyone happen to have a drawing of an engine lift bracket, the one that uses the bolt holes from the carb? Is this the best place to lift the engine from?

Still looking for a source for a clutch fork boot, I looked all over the net last night with no luck. Anyone?

    Thanks

You mean bolts from the manifold? Carb studs won't be strong enough.

Yes, the manifold bolts. I had only seen pictures of some brackets and did not know what was used. Thanks for your help.

Yes they will, I picked my engine up and placed it in my frame with the 4 bolts mounted in the intake. Here is a pic of the unit still mounted:

If I remember the bolts are 5/16-18 and I can safely say that they weren't even close to there rating on weight or stress. A 5/16 grade 8 bolt has roughly 900lb of lift capacity in a vertcal motion so it looks like 4 of them would safely lift the jeep.;)

Thank you for the clarification Mcruff, could you please supply me with the hole centers and sizes in the bracket? I am almost ready for one so I thought I better whip one up.

    Greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

I wouldn't be worried about the bolts snapping, but rather shearing out the threads in the manifold. A V6 with a cast iron maniflod would probably be alright, But I wouldn't try to pick up a V8 with an aluminum manifold that way.

Sorry about not getting back on this, forgot all about it.
Here is a gif withte dimensions for the lifting attachment to a fit a stock Dauntless carb.

  12. I used a standard chevy plate from the local flaps (~$9) and redrilled the carb bolt pattern.
