11-inch brakes, stock wheels 1960 cj5

It seems that the stock 15-inch wheels are unsuitable for use with 11-inch brake drums. I prefer to keep the stock wheels, but need to improve the brakes on my 1960 cj5.
    Suggestions?

My jeep had the old style wheels with non finned 11" drums. Maybe if you use non-finned drums you will be ok?

dohc281 It is what it is.

I have 11" brakes and stock rims from a mid 70's Jeep and have no problems.

If the drums are non-finned, the area where you have interference is likely the corners of "notches" between the wheel center and the outer rim. I had the same problem; used a BFH and knocked down the corners of these notches. Some folks cringe at a solution such as this, but it worked for me.

If the have the 11" drum brake kits being sold these days they don't fit the 50's/60's 15" stock rims unless you trim the backs of the rims.
