Went out to start the Jeep today. It only fires up with the aid of starting fluid, then dies. Annyone have any idea why? It's about 30 degrees here in Jersey, maybe the temp has something to do with it?? Thanks

Have you checked to see if the choke was closed or not??? How about a fuel pump issue. Pull the line going to the carb and put it in a coffe can or something like that. See how much if any gas is coming out while you crank. I would check that first.

Mine doesn't have a choke on it also. I went out and tried to start it when it was 30 degrees and below and had a hell of a time. Getting the oil warm is key. If it starts then dies it sounds like a carburator problem. Check if the jets aren't cloged or if it is flooding when started. Mine was doing it for awhile. I let it sit then tried again when it was warm. Ran great.

I did the old line into the coffe can test, and nothing is going into the can. I'm guessing it's the fuel pump thats bad. I'll order a new one and see what happens.

Turns out it was the fuel pump. I just replaced it this morning, and it fired right up!
