Window Zipper maint.

    whats a good thing to keep the zippers on the tops smooth? Ive heard vaseline but I dunno.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

    I use silicone spray
    dries, leaves no film, and DOESN'T attract dirt
    vaseline would be a mess IMO

    I use a dry lube such as graphite or moly.

    In a pinch, I'll use a light spray of WD-40.

    In the military, we had sticks of a wax-like substance that was designed to lube the zippers on the canvas cases of field communications gear. We of course used it on the zippers on the windows of our M-151 MUTTS also. This lube came in a pencil-shaped form, and you peeled the outside paper away as needed and just ran the stick over both sides of the mated zipper teeth. (zipper closed) You can find a very similar lube in your FLAPS under the name of Door-Eze, among others. It works great!

    Slightly less effective is running a household candle over the teeth of the closed zipper, and then working the slide back and forth to work the wax in. in both cases, the main ingredient is paraffin, but the commercial sticks have an additive to keep the wax from runnin gand making a mess on hot sunny days. ;)

    I've got some stuff at home from finish line, they make cycling products. It is a teflon spray for bike chains, cables etc... it sprays on and dries invisible but OMG does it work well. You should be able to find it at any high end bike shop.
