I have this HS9500i from a jillion years ago that has probably cost more than a new Warn. When I first bought it the motor was full of corrosion from probably being submerged...replaced it with a new warn motor. Still nothing. Now I have moved on to the solenoids and see that there are 4. Is there any way to simplify this and have an in and an out solenoid? I am good to use a normal 3 wire remote instead of the Warn 5 pin one if that is what is required.

Forget about the solenoids and install a replacement contractor unit. Pretty much weatherproof and more reliable.

I like this - could you elaborate?

I did a simple internet search and came up with more information than I could ever post here. Basically an integrated one piece unit that replaces all the solenoids. Less susceptible to corrosion and other issues solenoids can have. It’s a common conversion on older winches when they develop solenoid issues.

So I could eliminate the tall portion of my winch? 20220923_145525.jpg

You could eliminate the entire jeep by giving it to me! lol...seriously, the "i" in the warn number means integrated, as in all together. It is part of the winch.
You would still have to mount the relay somewhere. Some winches have a relay box that can have remote mounting options.

So I have the same winch as shown on the orange Jeep. It looks like I could fit a 2.75x2.75x5 inch contactor in that housing. All I find are closer to 4x4x4 or so. Any creative ideas on what else I could do? Not opposed to putting a contactor box on the motor if thats the best way (and ignore that upper housing). My other question is will these contactors work with my F1 F2 and A connection on the winch motor? I can't seem to find a wiring diagram for Warn to aftermarket cheapo contactor...does anyone have access to something like this?

If you want to go el cheapo just replace the existing solenoids.

I want nothing to do with those solenoids. What an insane setup. I like the contactor idea just need to find a way to get it tucked under the cover or off to the side.

I was able to stuff a contactor where the four relays were mounted on my 8274 but I am unfamiliar with how they are physically mounted on an HS.

The 250amp contactor looks to be 3-1/4 X 3-1/4 X 2. I am not seeing that kind of room in the integrated warn and you still have to fasten it down.
I couldn't find anyone that had fit one on this particular winch.

So my next thought is to put a contactor box on the motor sort of like a normal Warn without the integrated solenoid tunnel up top. This is a budget operation so I am avoiding the Warn branded one.

Warn sells a kit complete with relays and wiring with the 4 relays. Amazon has the relays for a decent price but some of the reviews are not good.
Not sure of the condition of your wire and connectors.

Im working on a XD9000I right now. She is pretty roached. I like the idea of the modern control box. They come in remote or wired aswell. I would try to mount it under hood somewhere even if you had to extend the wires a foot or so. Stakebed no you cant elimite the top part of the winch thats what holds it all together.
