Roll Cage Fitment - Different Years

I am looking at a used, but un-welded roll cage kit made by rhodes (they sell from different vendors like summit, etc). It seems to be for all version of the CJ5 which I find odd since the windshield angle and a few other minor things changed. https://www.rhodesracecars.com/10-Point-Roll-Cage--CJ5_p_9311.html

I have asked the company, but not received a response. Has anyone used this kit? Am I right to be suspicious as to fitment if it is "one size fits all years"?

I realize it is a kit and some cutting/notching is required, but I would rather not have to bend the main hoop to fit due to lack of a bender, and I have to buy it sight unseen due to distance.

    thanks

$375 for a steel rollcage + $200 for DOM seems like a smokin' deal!
Please let us know what you hear back.

yes, I have had a bookmark for extremecustoms and saw there prices went up $250 just from when I was last looking. They require you to tell them whether it is early/intermediate/late years, which furthers my concern of why rhodes doesn't.
The price of the used kit is very tempting, but it is has unusable bends, then I am just going through alot of hassle for scrap pipe.

You are right, the tilt-back angle of the windshield changes for 1976, and the newer windshield is narrower across the top (mildly trapezoidal). Kinda hard to say what Rhodes intends; the later style would fit but could be closer to the windshield. Maybe they expect their customers to accept that, or they don't have a clue.

Looking at the Rhodes picture, that design does not seem well-suited to a built-for-fun Jeep. The tilt-back of the front bar looks severe, like it were meant for a race car with no windshield. Unusual extra bracing too. The "Saturday driver" cages I've seen were typically a front hoop with a pair of front-to-back bars, or two Ls and a cross bar. These were added to the typical single-hoop roll bar.

mine is so old that the front hoop was one piece
no "packing" cross bars and plates were taped on
two piece came along later to fit in smaller box
and I thought soft top prices were high
    some assembly required
yea I would be suspicious of what Rhodes is selling

I ended up getting an Extreme kit -- got here fast and they took the effort to email to clarify the correct windshield angle which makes me think a one-size-fits-all kit doesn't exist.
Now on to the hard part of putting it together: duct tape and super glue here I come.

Would you mind posting pictures of the kit they sent? Also which options did you select? I am planning on doing this same thing this winter. Thanks!

I’ll post up pictures in my build thread and link them here, it is still all wrapped up so I can transport it to where I work in the Jeep. I got the full family cage in dom and added some bent options. I did not get the frame tie-ins. I have a sport hoop already so considered just a new front hoop, but had no history on it so would rather not build around something I don’t trust.
