1973 Commando

If I keep my Commando, it needs to get some lift & bigger tires, but I'm really hesitant to put a traditional lift kit on it. It rides soooo much better than a CJ!

 

Reaching back 6 decades but my mother did the same thing driving a 60 Benz 190Db. That had a four speed column shift and she managed to hit reverse about where we loaded the Titan from. Being diesel, the engine turned over backwards and blew the exhaust through the oilbath air cleaner. The headliner was forever after charcoal colored rather than the previous off white. And the air fresheners didn't do much for the new aroma.

 

I haven’t driven it too much because the brakes are at the moment. After I fix the brakes, I’ll report back.

 

I picked up this Commando today. It has a 304 and Turbo 400. I'm going to swap the turbo 400 in to the yellow one for my mom. I will feel better with her driving it on the street with the automatic.

 

Wish you were closer to me, I'd like to get the front axle out of that one.

 

I forgot to check if it had a radio in it still.

 

Rocker looks decent on the passenger side...Is the tub any better than the first one you bought??

 

No, it is a lot worse.
