I found that my M38 tub was deficient in the area of footman loops. lots of holes for them yet, they were all removed by the previous tub owner. I had a couple in my box of parts but needed many more. Priced them online and saw they went from $2.50 to $7.50 each. And the mounting patterns was 2 1/8, not the 2 inch you find on amazon.

I found McMaster-Carr has them in stock for about $1 each.

A package of 10 was $9.63 for the low carbon ones. They matched my original 2a ones very well. Just a lot less pitting from the 70+ year old original ones.

And while i was there i ordered the slotted machine screws to go with them. Only sold in 100 packs... so i have plenty left over hahaha. And I was shocked that it only took a day to get to my house. Now they are being painted and i will get them installed to get rid of the many holes in my tub

I use McMaster Carr routinely for supples. Fast, good quality and a wide assortment of stuff. In fact, I just got a shipment yesterday.

+1. They ship fast. I have ordered on Sunday and the materials were on my porch mid-day Monday. They aren't cheap, but they only stock quality stuff.

The screws that are used with them are size 10-32.
I got 3/8 long, but i think 1/2 inch would be a touch better just because there were some spots on my tub that there is a second piece of sheetmetal and that made the screw not have many threads available for the nut to go on.
1/2 will give a little bit more length in case of differences below the surface of the tub.

Yep. I have been purchasing stuff from them for almost 50 years. Never have had a single problem. There are cheaper sources for individual items but damn few vendors (if any) have the selection that McMaster has and it is quality merchandise. I buy almost all my hardware from them these days. The shipping is about the same cost for me as a trip to town for the chinese crap at Ace or HD.
