I started to install the E-Brake handle and cable into my Jeep yesterday and realized I have lost the little odd shaped retainer clip which holds the cable inside of the barrel of the handle. I have searched all the usual sources for a replacement but have had no luck finding one.

Anyone have an idea of where I can get this, or a suitable replacement ?

The clip Dale posted is exactly what I am looking for.

I have already tried a brake hose retainer such as Mr Runner suggested, and it sort of works, but it isn't a tight fit.

Somebody had a source for these a couple years back, maybe Walcks? I've always called these hairpin clips, but there is probable a more proper name.

They do have some that look like they would work. If I don't find a single I may order a package, I would only have 99 extras.

Picky, picky, picky, You only said you wanted a source. Think positive, it's harder to lose a hundred than just one. LOL. All kidding aside, you might try calling them and ask if they have slight style variations and don't list them or maybe, know of another vender who may have the style you want.

I chopped and bent a nail for mine. Worked perfectly for a couple year until I put in a foot brake.

I tried several sizes and styles of automotive "hairpin" clips from a variety pack I got at a FLAPS. None would work. I tried a brake hose clip like the one in the KW link, it would probably work but it is too thin and there is a good bit of play which makes me think it might not work for long.

"TheJeepsterMan" has some clips for this. They differ from the original design but look like they should work. I ordered a few to find out.

If these don't work I will fabricate something.

Yes, that is it. I forgot about that site and it didn't come up in any of the searches I did.

I did look at Walcks but $9.95 plus shipping is a bit steep for a clip. The clips I ordered from TheJeepsterMan differ from original, but if they work they are only a buck and a half. I see no reason they wouldn't work, and don't care if they don't look the same. I ordered a half dozen of them.

It also appears Grainger has the clips.
