Can anyone help me out with an ID of this distributor? It's in a 67 V6 but apparently is not stock as it's not matching ignition points from the parts store. Not legible tag on it. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ken

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

    Autolite/Prestolite
    Factory unit.
Some OEM numbers would be: IAT 4501, IAT 4502, IAT 4502A.
Cap, rotor, points and condenser were the same for all models as i recall.

Doesn’t the v6 odd fire have the funky type distributor with the extended contacts in the cap that’s so hard to set up? Sorry to hijack your thread but I need to know the difference.

Thanks for that. Do you happen to have a part number for the contact points? I am striking out finding anything

I believe the contacts are different sizes so it has to be set up a specific way

Delco rotor has the extended tang.
    Prestolite does too I believe.

HEI's used the extended contacts in the cap.
Points style distributors used an extended tang on the rotor

My 70 has a regular Prestolite type distributor cap. I bought it non running and in the inspection I found two pushrods bent. I’m wondering if the wrong cap for a even fire was installed. I also have a spare engine with the same cap. What do you guys think.

    Pictures ?
    Prestolite won't work/fit on Delco.

What I was getting at was if a even fire cap was accidentally installed on a odd fire

There is no even fire points cap. They were all hei by then. Only points caps are Delco or Prestolite .

Got it. I’ll have to look at the distributor again. Just going from memory. Haven’t looked at the engine parts for a few years.
