Going to try and document this the best I can, and I'm sure I'll have questions and problems.
I'm not a mechanic. I'm sure I will screw up.

But here it goes. I have a dana 30, from a 79CJ5, now basically new from disk to disk. (Locking Hub to locking hub?)
It's now geared to 5.38 to match my dana 44. All new moog ball joints, etc.

When I did this swap it was really simple. Make sure you have new spring plates and new bolts to match the Dana 30.

Agreed. the Dana30 swap was one of the first things I did and it was really simple. And yes the Saginaw Swap is a bit more work.

You keep the Ross box when you did yours?

I changed to power steering at the same time. I used the Herm kit to keep the steering gear inside the engine compartment. I like the looks of that better.

Are you going manual steering or power?
Advance adapters sells a weld on manual and a weld on power steering box bracket. They also sell pre cut front frame boxing plates fairly reasonably priced.
