Help With Identifying Speedo

Discussion in 'Early CJ5 and CJ6 Tech' started by Randy Benedict, Feb 18, 2021.

  1. Does anyone have any idea what this speedometer is from? It has a light for "brake" along with the normal amp, oil, and high beam. It also has signal lights. They are not clear plastic arrows but are recessed like the other ones. Never seen one like this. It works well, too. 20210218_193717.jpg

Looking like Volkswagen bug. Other than the temp part.

  3. Interesting. The housing is the same as all my Jeep speedos. Thanks

  10. Oh no - not even close. Mine has a light for "brake" and no clear plastic on the signal indicator. It is an OEM from something and is quite old.

Looks like a Postal Jeep speedometer. Here's some Postal Jeep speedometers from for sale listings.

That looks like a speedo that was in a '76 or '77 CJ I parted out 15 yeaes ago.

Looks a lot like my 73 CJ. Note the stock speedo's gas gauge reads full when pointing down. My so called exact match replacement reads full when the needle is up.

It is a possible aftermarket unit.

It looks to be missing the CVR unless these earlier ones were different than my '77 and '78

  16. The CVR has been removed. Looks like someone replaced the fuel gauge.
