looking to change out the power steering gear in my 74 cj. After having some bad experiences with rebuilt parts. i.e. master cylinders, fuel pumps I am a little gun shy. Any one have any favorites??? Any experience with "Red Head" rebuilds? Was thinking about sending them my unit for a rebuild. Really don't need to upgrade the unit as I don't do any hardcore offroading and running 33x10.5x15 tires. Thanks

I used one of their gears on a power steering conversion for someone else, and there were no issues. I'll use them when my 3B box starts to leak again.

Yup I have a redhead in the 75 and will likely install another on the 74. They’re a great company to deal with and produce high quality American reman gears.

Hello, I have also used Red Head ,sent them my unit , they rebuilt and sent it back. Worked great, using them again on my 74 cj5 . Good luck.

I only deal with Redhead or Bluetop for steering gears anymore. Pretty much depending on who has what in stock, and price. FLAPS "rebuilds" are flat out junk, I've worked for a few of them, and steering gears were our most warranted items, aside from those f*&king dorman junk hybrid battery packs. And the few "new" boxes that you can find at the FLAPS aren't any better.
