    0CE32A29-0728-4526-A1DE-B1FAB5072E38.jpeg Hello all,

As i continue to clean up choices of my Jeep's PO, I need more help. The PO plugged the breather hole on the offy valve covers, so i wanted to add a breather. Yes i know its a little bling but it was cheap. The issue is it seems as though the offy's have a much larger hole than what is typical. The offy hole is 1 3/8 where it seems typically the hole is 1 1/4 on regular valve covers. I am have a heck of a time finding a grommet that will work. The ID needs to be about 1 inch and the outside 1 3/8. Of course these are actual sizes of the breather stem and the valve cover hole.

In searching it also seems that manufactures can be misleading as they do not always accurately reflect the size for the grommet to fit and instead not overall size which is of no help.

Any idea on where i can find a grommet that will work and appropriate for heat and oil?

What was used as a plug? Can you modify that plug to accept the breather?

I thought about that and will go that route if a "good" solution is not easy to find. Its a plug with the bolt and nut on the top pulling the rubber stopper from underneath. The blue circle.

PS...And Yes that is the same valve cover after some elbow grease, 3 hours of hand sanding with 220, 800, 1500, and 2000 grit and then buffing....of course all of which is after pressure washing, degreasing, and some scrubbing. Not too bad if i dont say so myself.

My hardware store has a surprisingly large assortment of grommets. Bring the valve cover and make sure it fits.

Maybe a grommet like this and epoxy a short piece of hose into it for the filter to slip in. McMaster-Carr

It's been a couple years, but I think I used a universal Mr. Gasket valve cover grommet plug and then carefully cut the plug part to fit the breather into. It was a snug fit, but it works great. I have the Holley covers which I would imagine have a similar diameter hole. The grommets were about $5.

PERFECT! Thank you. Had to buy 10 and pay much more plus shipping but it works and that’s what is important.
