It isn't too bad. The sound of the v6 makes it hard to hear.

I tore my stereo out years ago. Couldn't hear it anyway. Plus I shed a few pounds of jeep weight. One day I'll fill the ugly hole left in the dash from the stereo. Hope you get more use out of your set up than I did from mine. That is an interesting old speaker though.

Yeah, me, I don't feel the desire for loud tunes in a jeep or on a motorcycle. Just a distraction from the primary experience.

I finally built the D30 for Snowshoe and installed the Eaton E-locker with 4.88 gears. I used Brennan's disc brake conversion because it should clear the tracks.

And here it is all installed with new steering linkage! I still have to wire up the E-locker. Then I will be swapping the rear axle out with another D44 that has 4.88s and a powerlok. My current D44 has 3.73s and a powerlok. I'll keep the old one as a spare.

And here's a little tip for installing a D30. I use the factory 72-75 CJ U-bolt plates and mill out the holes for the one large U-bolt rather than cutting the shock mounts off and welding them back on. The 72-75 CJs have the shocks behind the axle and the early CJs have them in front of the axle.

I forgot, I also swapped out the cast iron dual MC for a used R&P wilwood setup from @nickmil . I prefer this MC because it has remote reservoirs and you can get the master cylinder in any configuration. Nick said he pulled out the residual pressure valves, so I installed some in-line ones for the disc brakes.

That is how I am planning to mod intermediate spring plates for my NT dana 30 project too! Thanks for showing me that it will work like I thought.

I might possibly be interested in that also. I don't think my current wheels will clear the common 79 disc brakes.
Any way you could give me an idea what offset it would take to clear the Brennans brakes?

Would this master cylinder work in place of the stock dual master cylinder for a '70-71 jeep? Do you have a part number for it? Is it only the remote reservoirs that form your opinion on the merits of this one over a stock one?

I wheeled the D30 out of the garage with the stock commando steel wheels and those wheels just barely hit the calipers. Any aftermarket wheel will clear. Brennan sells a 3/8" wheel spacer just for this reason.

It will not. This is a totally different bracket. I pulled out a stock 70 master cylinder and bracket setup. This is the master cylinder that the kit uses. I prefer this one for ease of filling and it takes up less space. I have been running one on Ted for years with no complaints.

Finished up the rear axle install today with metcalf's ee parking brake kit. And now this jeep stops on a dime! Also wired up the E-locker. Seems to work well.

Now that the axle swap is done, I have only 4 mods left to Snowshoe, install a T18, overdrive, rear full float conversion and a new bds lift kit.

Looks good! I’m just about to install Brennan’s disc conversion. Looking forward to having good brakes.

My friend found this sweet license plate for me. I thought it was only fitting to put on Snowshoe since it has a Pennsylvania national race track employee sticker on it.
