Is this doable or will all the tub mounts be out of place?

'72 -'75 tub will bolt right on. Fenders from the '72-'75 will be too long so you'll need to use the older short fenders.

Found a very decently priced cj6 tub but its a 74 and mine is a 71. The tub is fiberglass but for the price I think I can deal with it.

What's the plan for the fuel tank? IMO that's the only downside I see. You get a few things "for free" like cleaner tub-side steering setup and swing pedals out of the box.

I'm not restoring it, just want a really decent trail jeep so ill probably mount a fuel cell under the bed and just have an access hatch in the bed floor. Or worst case ill just mount it in the bed.

I guess I should have been more specific :banghead:. A CJ6 early and an intermediate tub will not bolt right up....

A fiberglass tub for a '74 CJ-6 will only be different in detail from a fiberglass tub for a '71. Should set on and mounts line up just fine. The big change is in 1976.

It hits the crossmember just in front on the rear end, not the one directly over it but just in front of it. Looks like The crossmember is about 3 inches too high.

Ok so the red arrow is the cross member that is into the bottom of the tub. I just sat it on there to test fit it and its really hitting not just a little. I know there's no body mounts but I don't think it should be hitting it that much. The green arrow is showing how much I had to raise the rear end up so the cross member wouldn't punch through through the fiberglass.

I'm thinking now its possibly the tub and not the difference in the frames. Here's my 1971 frame

and the frame the tub was supposedly mounted to

I was disappointed with the glass Jeep I owned once... too many drawbacks over metal

you could go the other way
use the newer frame . transfer engine mounts and go from there
saginaw steering already on frame and hanging pedals
