Better Fuel Filler Hoses

Any one of you recommend one set of full filler hoses over another?? I replaced the fuel tank vent hose less that 3 years ago and it's shot already. Not sure how long the filler hose had been on there but I've had the jeep for 10 years and have never replaced it, looks brand new. 74 cj5 Thanks

 

Is there more than one source? i thought that they all came from MTS. MTS COMPANY, L.C. - Jeep CJ/YJ Gas Tanks Seems kinda unlikely that the market would support more than one maker.

Shot how? Where or from whom did you buy it?

 

I still have the OEM hoses. Maybe a JY?

No listing on RockAuto currently. If it was an Omix-Ada part, their rubber parts are known to be terrible quality.

You can buy the MTS vent hose by itself; you don't have to buy the whole setup ( CJVH-3 ) Fuel Vent Hose for 1970-1975 Jeep CJ5 with Rear 15 Gallon Tank by MTS Search online for Jeep 992763. The MTS parts are of good quality AFAIK. I have used them and they seem fine. Suspect that the parts from Barney's are sourced from MTS.

 

when researching this in older posts several of yall talked about how this could cause fires. when i made a left turn yesterday i could smell gas. when i check my tailpipe was soaked by fuel. as always this group was right on point.

 

I got mine at mcmaster carr. Just use the filters on the left hand side bar and order the length of hose you need.

 

Hydraulic hose places should have fuel rated hose too.

 

I've been looking at barney's for the complete hose, spout and cap when I replace the tank on my 74 very soon. MTS is also a good option. I have their tank and cowl vent hose on the 75.

On a side note, mts just did a run of cowl vent hoses if anyone needs one. I bought one last October, was delivered a few weeks ago. Very nice piece.

 

You might contact MTS with that picture. Give them a chance to make good on it if it's their part, or to deny that it's theirs. I expect you'd get some assurance that their new one won't fail like this. Not an expensive part ... possible you won't be able to duplicate it with generic fuel rated hose at that price.

Done, Eric with MTS hooked me up with new hoses and body grommet and only took a few days to get here.
