I picked up the hard to find tailgate mounted license plate bracket with chrome light for a Tuxedo Park Mark IV from BigDaddy13 (thanks again). Does anyone have a closeup photo showing how the factory routed the wiring for the light?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Ok, I found a few pictures on line showing the wiring just running down the exterior of the tailgate and under the tub. This photo is from a 65 Tux Park for sale on Bring-A-Trailer.

The photo you found is basically correct. The wire ran in a piece of stiff cloth loom, but it ran above the rear crossmember on the drivers side of the hitch brace. The wire did not run through the pto hole in the crossmember.

Was there a factory hold down on the tailgate for a wire clamp? My tailgate has a hole lower left of plate mount and wear of a wire clam may have been?

I noticed that hole too. It would be a good place for a wire clamp.

The four holes are for the bracket and the small hole about 2.5 inches down from the stamped rectangle on the driver side near the center of the tail gate is for a clamp. What does the clamp look like?...

This is the photo prior to my purchase. The wire is just under the V on the plate. This had 17,xxx when I bought it so it is pretty much original. It's not the green circle. That was from when someone asked about the rear bumper bracket.

    Maybe this photo is better?

If you look at Marks top photo, you can see the loom running through the gap (just under the "V" on the plate that I described in post #4.
There was originally a clamp behind the frame crossmember between where the loom tucks through and the left tail light, but I don't remember the exact location. There was also the same clamp that uses the lower right mounting screw of the license bracket, as a strain relief. By the way, the two lower mounting screws of the bracket require a spacer between the bracket and tailgate.

Actually, I thought the bulb is a #67 or #97. The globe needs to be small diameter, just slightly larger than the base for the socket.

Does anyone have any close up photos of this license plate bracket, ideally off of a Jeep?

Those are studs in the chrome lamp part? Mine has what looks like same thread bolts going into it. I hold my breath when tightening them. the metal feels so soft, and I do not want to go down that road of repairing that part. Nope,

There are two studs screwed into the body of the chrome light. The whole housing is very soft white metal, so the threads are weak, and the housing pits under the chrome.

I need to get to restoring my newly acquired Tux light frame and I have some questions.

Here are some pictures of what I got:

The light housing is pot metal right @Keys5a If that's right, then what doo you think of this approach to restoration:
    1. Bead blast off badly pitted chrome plating
    2. Solder/lead any holes and the crack (how would this Muggy Weld stuff work do you think?)
    3. Sand flush
    4. Re-chrome plate
How should I restore the glass lamp?
