Finally got around to restore the heater controls. Took them apart, cleaned, and reassembled. Big thanks to dan on eBay for the decal to finalize the look.

His eBay name is Willys002 or Willys001dan. I found these by searching Jeep heater decal. Should be around $5-6.00 each.

$5.50 when I bought mine a minute ago. Thanks for the tip.

Unfortunately, once it arrived and I looked at it carefully, I decided the quality of the text image was too poor to not nag at me.

I'm going to tackle this project today - any tips on the cleaning part? Did you beadblast or soak and scrub, or both?

When I did mine I use warm soapy water and an old toothbrush.

Also take a lot of pictures before disassembling so you get everything back in the right place and orientation.

That's the control previous to the vacuum system in the original post. I don't recall the changeover but it should be in a post last year.

No. I have a 63' and it came with the push button vacuum heater control.

That control was originally used as a Utility Vehicle part IIRC. It appeared again for 1972 as I recall, before the CJ got the '73-75 (always broken) plastic console and switch with a new knob design.

If you search for "heater controls" on this site, you'll find some earlier Jeeps with this style control. Possible it's Tux-only in an early CJ? Maybe other search terms would reveal more.

Anyone got any pointers for me to get these knobs free from their shafts? One had a very haggard looking set screw, the other two are open. Is there a detent of some sort in there or are they just stuck on by old age and I should heat/treat with PB?

Mine has the control for the vacuum actuated dashpots which are toast on my Jeep. I am planning to convert to the cable operated control, and would trade the vacuum switch panel for a cable operated one as shown above.

On my 67 CJ5 there is a small vacuum line from the control which is attached to a fitting on the T for the PCV connection right under the carburetor.
