The plow jeep is running on 2 cylinders at the moment(barely). I get about 1/2 cup of fuel at the carb in about 15 seconds so should be good on that end. 1 and 4 are dead but good compression. Popped the cover of the yf and noticed the metering rod is moving but not squirting anything into the carb. Its not engaging the pump. When i push on the pump it will squirt gas into the throttle opening. Out of adjustment? Anyone see something I'm missing? Been awhile since i messed with the yf.

I should add that plugs, wires, points, condenser, cap and rotor are all new with no change. I do get spark on all 4

Where are the check-ball and weight? You won't see fuel squirting because of the metering rod. Fuel only squirts when the pump is actuated.

Has it recently had a bad backfire thru the carb?

How is the pump actuated. Shouldnt the metering lever, whatever supposed to push it down or is something else supposed to depress it?
As far as the weight, ??
It may have. Wondered about that but wasnt sure what to look for.

I know these are simple, just used to the 2g now.

I see what you mean by the checkball and weight. those are free. If i push down on the plunger-in the video the accelerator pump does give a shot of fuel like its supposed to.

Huh. Think im missing the choke connecting rod.

So vacuum is what moves the accel pump.

I pulled the carb and blew out and chased the passeges with a wire. Think one was plugged a little.
The accel pump does work so diaphram is good.
I might have an old parts carb from when i had wimpy. Hopefully i can find a choke linkage

But the choke linkage shouldnt matter too much with the manual choke cable on. Should just hold the throttle open a little more with choke on, right?

The Choke should do that for you, when you pull the choke out it lifts the throttle a little at the same time. I don't use my choke much, usually just pumping it a few times gives it enough extra gas to fire up, but after long storage sometimes I use the choke. When I use the choke I don't touch the throttle. Good Luck[IMG]I hope this helps, you can see the idle screw.

I guess thats what im trying to figure out. Looks like vacuum helps actuate the accel pump under load, but it should give a squirt of gas when you push on the throttle. Im not getting that at the moment. What mechanically actuates the accel pump?

I do pump the peddle while cranking, so vacuum is there.

Nothing other than the springs. I think by following the procedure for adjusting the metering rod and actuating the throttle by hand it's easier to understand what happens.

Never thought about it but that makes sense.

Ill have to look thru the manual again and check the adjustment.

Dont really want to have someone crank and me look down throttle to see if fuel is coming out. Waiting for a good backfire while i do that

Try this. At the high rev that was pedal to the floor. Almost at the end where it was "idling" i still had my foot on to keep it running.

    Any ideas where to start?
    Timimg? Fuel?

At first it sounded like the timing was severely retarded, but then it sounded like it ran out of fuel?

Sounds like you have a cylinder that is not firing to me, sounds like it is only running on three cylinders, and the shaking makes me think so too. I would check the plugs, bet one is real wet. Put new plugs in it and try it. Good Luck

It is running on only 3 for sure and at times only 2. Sounded worse when i started it.
    New plugs wires cap rotor...
    Made no difference
Compression is good so valves should be adjusted good enough?i will have to put the engine at tdc and check the timing. Wire on rotor looks to be more at 6 o'clock position than 5 that the manual calls for

What did the exhaust look like?
