    Oh Lordy, where to start.
Riding my XL600 with the wife on the back at the GP races at Laguna Seca. It's the Saturday night craziness going on in the infield, so tons of people around. I'm riding up a hill and decide to thrill the fans with a wheelie.
Apparently I forgot my wife was back there and when the front came up she immediately ejected to the laughter of the people. I considered just keep going and leave the country , but instead I turned around and picked her back up.
And there was the time I put the throw out bearing in backwards in my 67 El Camino. Horrible screeching . Got under the car, took the transmission off, laid it on my chest and reached in and turned the bearing around. Thank goodness that worked.

Now this was probably around 1974 time frame
out of army . got a job working on cars
working on a somewhat new cadillac
replacing tires . put spare in trunk
closed lid . looked like it didn't latch
put fingers from both hands under lip to raise trunk lid (BIG)
and right when I did that . the electric motors came on to finish closing lid
STARTED yelling for help . the guys were laughing so hard . it wasn't funny
I said GLOVEBOX . OPEN TRUNK . I AM STUCK :steamed:
lesson learned . never did that again

Had a friend in Florida that was going to prove he could pick up a car battery by gripping the battery post with a pair of pliers. He grabbed the pliers with both hands, gripped the battery post, when he started to pick up the battery, he got it about waist high when the pliers came off, smacked him between the eyes and knocked him cold.

Well, I've done my own foolish/careless things over the years so we can laugh at each other's mistakes. I sure do wish I had been there to watch that. o_O:shock::whistle::lol:

Of course if I had been there I would have probably advised against doing that, and there would have been nothing to post about. :D

Nothing like responding to ancient posts but I pulled a similar stunt with my fathers T20 crawler once. Only it is a hand crank and you are standing in front of it. On this one, there is also a dozer frame between you and safe turf. It was a quick two step for sure.

I have never lost a hood---yet. But the first time I really "aired out" the 3B, I watched the hood pulling up and fully compressing the springs in the latches. That wasn't too pleasing a sight.

Yes, Glenn.....I wish you were here. :)

I Reckon I could post on the " What did your Jeep help you with " thread, but I don't have any Pics. Was to concerned & concentrated on getting it the hell out there. Suffice it to say, I am very pleased With ' Rosie' & her Warn winch, front Lockrite , rear LSD, & 4 wheel low. She did the Job, but I'll be forever bewildered that after it's 100 Foot run, all that happened to the trailer was a bent License plate ? My friend told me that it was already bent . I didn't even lose any of the ~ 500 #'s of junk that was in it, although the load did shift rearward quite a bit:rofl:

The fact that it rolled backwards like that and that far is crazy. Glad Rosie came through! I'd imagine all of us with our combined mishaps could write a book that would take a week to read. I sometimes wonder how I'm still around. :)

Thats quite the flattening experience.. I have never since started my jeep without sitting in the drivers set. You learn best from your mistakes or you die.

Speaking of trailers. My FIL swore up and down that his ball on the trailer I took on my first epic dirt bike trip was 2". I believed him, so across the country we went, bikes in trailer, everywhere.. Occasionally I would get weird trailer noises..

Get all the way back to PA, back the trailer across a dip and the unloaded trailer flips up right off the ball.. I examine it closer.. its 1 7/8.

The moral of the story is my FIL is a full on idiot, and knowing that, I should have checked a bit closer. No one hurt, nothing damaged.. but..

Ok, now for my story! First it wasn't me but my brother. We had this big pile of trees and brush that needed burned. My brother wanted to burn it, I said I think we should wait until it rains, it's a bit dry out. He insisted it was ok, so I said have it your way. Lit it up. It was almost all burned up so we took a break and went down to the house for a quick snack. Meantime up at the brush burn the wind came up suddenly and blew sparks out into the woods, woods burning, neighbor called and said might want to check your fire, looks like a lot of smoke up there. Well, my brother was on the skidsteer running around trying to put dirt on the fire. There was an old huge excavator tire up there that was burning, he tried to just turn it over but when he stood it up on the edge it took of rolling down the hill, blazing. The fire truck had just showed up and the guys were getting out when they see the blazing tire headed straight for their firetruck at high speed, one of the firemen jumped in their truck and pulled out of the way just in time for it to miss by inches. One of the firemen said " WTH is going on ?"I said you will have to ask the guy on the skidsteer.
