Have the front axle taken apart minus the carrier. For some reason we can not get this to come out to get to the inner seals. Any tips on getting this to come out?

Usually a couple of pry bars or long screw drivers can be used to semi gently pry it out. Maybe a swat or two with a rubber mallet.

Pry bars usually work. On stubborn ones, I have had good success using a slide hammer with two-jaw attachment clamped onto the carrier. I think the impact of the slide kinda pops it loose.

You can put a wrench on one of the ring gear bolts and turn the pinon, it should force it out.

I took Howard's case of dynamite response as the reference of the "case" as a "carrier". The part the ring gear is bolted onto is the case. The carrier is the whole cast housing all this goes into. I'm starting to sound like Nick!

When I did my Dana 25 I used two BIG screwdrivers. I thought it was going to be more difficult but it came out with a little persuation. Make sure equal pressure is applied to both screwdrivers, otherwise it might cock to one side and then it would be waaay harder to remove. My half cent...

I recently forced a new carrier into my housing that was way too tight. To get it out I slipped a ratchet strap around the differential and hooked the other end to the ball hitch on my truck. I put some old pillows and blankets down where I expected it to eject and started slowly ratcheting the strap tight. Popped out eventually and bounced on the pads. Plan B was of course to just put the truck in gear and floor it.
