red61cj5 Just fell off the turnip truck!

So I finally got my f head back from the machine shop, after 3 months (don't ask) and I have gotten a little fuzzy on how everything went together. I need a good rebuild guide, print or video. Does anyone know of one? Google has shown me a lot of head rebuilding, which is great, but very little crank and cam stuff.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

Best bet might be to purchase a factory service manual which will have all the step by step information inside.

yea, I ordered the one from Kaiser willys, I'll see how it is. I have a little time now, cuz when I took the plastic wrap off the block today, the front cam bearing was pressed in, the other 3 were missing! So its back to the shop tomorrow. Probably take 3 more months.

Been a while since I fooled with an f head, but I sorta remember that maybe there is only 1 cam bearing. Seems like the other journals are bareback.
    Guys??

After reading, I guess you're right. I never thought the cam would survive on iron, but I guess it does, since the old cam doesn't look bad. Just goes to show how bad I need that shop manual, I guess.

Yep one cam bearing. Don’t forget the main bearing dowels.

Here’s a guide. Lots of good info on here too.
