I've had this Warn 5687 sitting in my back yard for 17 years or so after a friend gave it to me for my '57 GMC 4x4 pickup project. I never got around to trying to restore the winch and eventually sold the truck. Looking at it this morning it seems I would have to find a few parts. I remember this winch being very heavy. It would look cool though on the front of my 74.... With very little research so far it seems a few parts are available.

Anyone know what these weigh? I know nothing about these so far.

I have one on my Jeep... firs thing you should do is change the oil in it and put some jumper cables across the leads to see if it works. They are very robust and not a lot goes wrong with them. Herm has all the parts you would need for it as well.

I just installed mine on my jeep after rebuilding it. Getting ready to wind on my cable. Just figured you might need a kick in the pants to get yours installed! I know I did to get this far. 20200111_095337.jpg

That is beautiful. I wish my 74 would allow the winch to set that low. Thanks for the kick!

I believe you can make these reversible (power in & power out) by changing the motor and using the appropriate solenoid pack or contactor.

That may be true if you can find a reversible motor with the 14 tooth gear on the end of the shaft. I haven't seen one although there may be one out there.
