Shut The Front Door

Or at least I wish I could. I was able to purchase Hey set of steel hinge retainers for my doors however the top mount is incorrect. It is likely for a different style. Does anybody have photographs of actually what I need?

Bottom is correct, top, the amount is incorrect and too high on the windshield

Thank you and let me know if you actually have a set of top hinges. I can fabricate something for rework the current set of hinges if needed but would prefer original

 

move upper hinge on door

 

I thought about moving that would upward but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to re-drill through the panel and do something wrong

I do like the hinge placement on my current door and respect to it not being on the window post/upright.

Was there some other style of upper socket that bolted in place of the mirror?

It's a diff hinge piece. The pin on the door piece has to point down or you wouldn't be able to lift the door off.

 

They could be on backwards, which would explain the notching we see at the window.
The hinges are left/right specific.
I'd look at the other side too.
Maybe all he could find to work at the time.

 

I guess that’s possible but they would also that need to be swapped opposite side to opposite side to get the pins to match up correctly. There are no other drill holes in the door

If everyone is in agreement that there was no other hinge type of set up that bolted in a different place other than high up on the door and higher up on the windshield I will make the swap happen

Nuts are accessible. It looks like he added some component of weatherstripping that would also have to come off. Actually kind of like what he added in regards to possibly sealing the door up a little bit

Based on the notching in it it’s possible this may have been installed upside down also?
( Note the notch at the top left corner of the door in the piece that holds some form of weatherstripping)

 

Options include at this point deconstruct the doors and drill and fill and use the factory bracket mounting’s or make a new bracket/socket. I may just forge one for the fun of it as I have some leftover steel and then will make a decision
