Old Drain Plug Crush Washer

The drain plug on my F134 always dripped. I tried to snug it up but with no luck. So after my last oil change, I notices the coper crush washer was all deformed. I then looked in the "extra gaskets" from the rebuild kit that the rebuilders gave me saying they were not used and low and behold I find a new one. Obviously, he never changed the original. But As I get ready to change oil the next time, I want to have several of these on hand. But all I can find at Walcks are paper ones. Any ideas on where to get these? The local box stores have no idea what it even is.

Even my lousy local hardware store has drain-plug washers in the small parts drawers.

Most of the copper washers I've seen are solid like the ones for banjo bolts. The one that came off the drain plug as well as the one in the gasket set was like a folded over ring the was hollow snide such that it truly 'crushed'.

 

Copper that is heated then suddenly quenched becomes annealed (soft) and seals well.

Sounds like you have worked on British Motorcycles, Pete, BAS head gaskets were solid Copper.
