Roxor Now Avaiable In California

I just received an e-mail from Roxor that the Roxor is now available in California. I believe they were held up with C.A.R.B. (California Air Resources Board), the people that pushed through the environmentally friendly gas caps that spill gas when you use them. No word on the California price in the email.

 

now if you took a old jeep and put the roxor running gear in . would it pass by year of vehicle . or now does it fall into a category of year of engine

 

Depends on your state. Most of the time it has to come from a model year or newer vehicle of the same class - aka Light Truck. The Roxor is not a light truck, so ‘no’ in many states.

 

I believe, in California, if the vehicle is old enough (1976 or older?) the engine can be whatever you want. I don’t think there would be any issues with swapping axles or other non-engine parts into newer rigs.

 

As long as the title is Pre 76 for the tub..... Buy roxor......remove roxor tub.... shorten roxor frame to fit or stretch old tub....install pre 1975 tub...... Drive as you please

The cowl of the Roxor wont line up with an early CJ5 hood fyi.

 

They probly wont be streetlegal in any way in ca,

i would say call the CA DMV. any street legal questions should be directed to those that can honestly answer your question, without making assumptions.

 

IMHO there is no way it will be street legal in California. I understand Roxor had issues getting it through California Air Resorses Board for off road use.

 

Most DMV’s are very unhelpful. They just want you to go away.

 

It would have to pass CA emissions before it could be offered for sale, much like lawnmowers, chain saws, anything that the CARB gods decree, whether legal for off road only or not.

 

Don't forget the safety and/or crash ratings . . .

 

Unless CA has something specific, this isn’t relevant at the state level.

 

Nope that's a Fed requirement.

 

It came in federally as a UTV. The ability to turn that into a road legal vehicle is bound entirely on each state’s legal options.
