A Suspension Question For Masses

I have my front springs and axle off the Jeep for some repairs. I was noticing a slight thunking noise coming from the pass side but couldn't find the source. Today I am changing spring bushings on the OME YJ springs I installed a few years ago. The sleeve in the stationary end slid right out with the bushing.. After removing the bushing, etc , I noticed the sleeve was sorta loose when I put it back in. It is slightly wiggling in the spring eye. The one on the shackle end is tight. So am I correct in assuming that this aint right? Can't make any calls til Monday.

 

I'll bet the axle took a strong hit forward or backward and opened up the eye. the shackle end can't stop any for or aft forces so everything for and aft goes thru the stationary eye. Might be able to swap the spring end for end.

 

Can't swap ends. I'll be making some calls Monday A.M.

 

Update: Old Man Emu/ARB is sending me a new spring under warranty.
