while I’ve had to tear down the transfercase, I’m thinking about spraying them with paint again, whilst apart. The transmission and transfer case are currently orange (substantial flaking), is this factory with the 225 being it’s shade of blue? Is there paintcodes for these components?
What other colors were the transfercase and transmissions painted over the years?
The groups knowledge is always appreciated.

Edit: I have not found anything regarding transmission and transfer case paint or colors/codes searching. However, after looking at late Kaiser, early AMC paint chips, it looks like a Renegade Orange color. Only the cases of the T14 and D18 are painted. The bellhousing and factory bellhousing adapter don’t have any paint on them, overspray or otherwise.

I don't think either of the cases were ever painted from the factory. The cast iron gets a thin coat of rust and dirt after a while. Pretty sure the new cars had cases that were rusty iron color from the factory. The transfer case pan will be black, and the bolts are probably black oxide, which quickly rusts. It was mostly moot in the day, because Jeeps leak enough that everything under the car gets a coating of oily dirt.
