1964 Cj3b Build. My Second Jeep.

Here we go!

Late August 2019 found my next project about 30 miles up in north part of the county. I’m really just barely finished with my CJ5 build but I couldn’t pass this one up.
Trailered it home and looked at it for a couple days.





Yesterday I took the top off, cleaned her out a little and started spraying PBBlaster on bolts. The body and frame are really in good condition. Lots better then the 5 when I started.

 

The worst thing so far is the windshield frame.



The hard top kept the inside of the tub from rusting badly but trapped moisture here. I’ll have to figure something out. A new windshield frame is over $500. The rest of the frame is good so I’m going to chop out the bad and find someone local who can bend a piece for me.

Is the soft top rail available part?

 

Plan for this week is to remove body parts one at a time. I’ll remove the yellow paint best I can then put a coat of rust restorer on everything. Put it all up in the attic and then roll the frame into the garage.

Having a little trouble figuring out what color this is.

So looking for a 4 speed for my CJ5 I came across this 1979 CJ7 being parted out. Funny thing this Jeep was about a mile from where I bought the 3B! Has T-18, Dana 20 TC, Disc brake D30 front and AMC 20 rear. I’m going to take all of that and put it in the 3B! Looking for a Dauntless or maybe a GM 4.3 V6 for power.

Stopped at Dollar Store and sprayed the oven cleaner on right in the parking lot.

Went to the car wash next and got 80% of the grime off.

 

Nice haul! Kinda reminds me of my 3B with the jackmans and buckshots just without the rot.

 

I think I've settled the color mystery. What do you think?
