Haven’t posted much here, but have been a little busy. I changed all the fluids, messed with the tail lights to get them working, and other stuff to get it road worthy.
Question; I have started it and checked the voltage at the battery and got 14.6 volts. After I shut it down, I got 13.6 at the battery. Is that correct or is it over changing and the voltage regulator shot?

Last night I went out to start the Jeep. I cranked it about 5-10 seconds and it didn’t start. I tried again and it turned over once, and it was lights out, LITERALLY, dash lights, head lights, no starter, NOTHING.
Is there anything other than the ignition switch that would cause that? I replaced the ignition switch a couple of months ago, and I know, these days, that may not mean much.

Bad connection somewhere or dead battery.

Battery is good. I keep it on a battery tender and at last check it had 12+ volts out of it.

I just tried it again. First try, nothing. I jiggled the key, and it cranked. :steamed::steamed::steamed:
This is why I replaced the first time.

It seems most ignition switches sold today, as "Universal" or what looks like an old Jeep ignition switch at the parts stores are really junk. I tried a few different ones that either wouldn't make connection reliably (jiggle the key) or stay in a stuck on starter condition. I found a used International Harvester truck switch in my one junk box. It had a key and so Farm Jeep Willy has been running that ever since.

Finally was able to look at the ignition switch and I can’t find any power to it. The BATT post has nothing. I assume that should be always hot. I looked at my FSM and it looks like the switch should get power from the starter solenoid. Am I correct? Ideas are VERY welcome.

just a refresher, the battery is the only thing that has juice.

Never mind. My NEW HF test light doesn’t work. I used my multi meter and I have voltage. :banghead::bananatool:
