For the spring, summer, and fall I would like to put the jeep outside. Since I have no top and the Jeep is really clean I would rather keep water off with a cover. Any particular cover recommended or just grab a cheap one? Winter I can move it in but the other 3 seasons it would be nice to keep outside. Once I get my bestop I would still rather cover it when outside for extended periods so the cover needs to fit a Jeep with top on.

three 1 x 2 wood a foot longer than the jeep, two heavy furniture blankets actually touch the paint under the 1 x 2 and a big sheet of plastic for me

A cover for a TJ fits reasonably well.

How about one of the Pop-up Garages? Nothing torches the paint, moisture can dry out and they can have other uses. I see them all over around here, but have never had one.

have seen a cover peel paint off after extended storage, get a garage in a box shelter and you will have room for more stuff

I have gone through a couple of covers for the CJ-6 (needs replacing now), and I have a cover for the VW. The VW cover is the "small car" size generic cover from Costco. These covers are a seasonal item there, and I don't know if they will be back or not. Cheap though, ca $20 IIRC. The CJ-6 covers have been Budge brand, likely the "Rain Barrier" type. I bought the cover for a Commando, and it fits pretty well. The cover will blow off if not helped by some bungies around the front bumper. Seems to stay on the back pretty well... maybe it's the way the wind swirls where the Jeep is usually parked. Rain BarrierĀ® Car Cover | Budge

I use one that my buddy gave me for a vw passat. It fits lousy but covers the jeep with room to spare.

Thanks all. I don't really have the space to setup a garage in a box. The Jeep is so tiny I would rather just hide it with a cover than setup a temporary structure.

What about a plastic tarp? Mines outside and I use the Harbor Freight tarps. The silver ones are excellent. I then bungee cord the front, back and middle. Holds up even in bad winds.

Pretty sure a plastic tarp will rub away the paint in spots due to the movement from wind. Covers meant for outdoor typically have a flannel-like lining that is meant to preserve the paint.

Good to know. I don't know if it would matter on mine. Sounds like your paint is much nicer. I just use the tarp to keep the dirt, leaves and rain out.

My body is really clean and super rust free...but my paint is just camo! Scratches are no problem. Worn paint is no problem. Heck it might even be a plus to get a little wear on the paint!
