Oddfire Timing "40 Deg Virus"

    Something from the CJ2a page:

    Buick 40 degree virus solved!

    This can happen on the Chevy 3.3 and 3.8 semi-oddfire if you happen to have one of them.

    one of the posters said: I thought the rotor was keyed, with a square pin and a round pin for the appropriate holes.
    At least on the Delco distributor I believe this is true - not sure about other distributors (Prestolite).

    I want to remember on the 3.3 chevy the rotor is keyed to the stub shaft but you can reassemble the unit weird once you are in the weights or some bad parts can get the key on the stub shaft with the reflector wheel turned around relative to the drive and 0deg of the stator and housing.

    The prestolite is impossible to put the rotor on backwards.
